7 May 2015: While the Commission is expected to release its Better regulation package on 19 May, EFFAT worryingly prepares for
the proposal’s possible negative impact. A leaked draft of the dossier has emerged and makes us fear the worse.
EFFAT is particularly concerned over the potential dismantling of social, environmental and consumer protection
standards. Through the REFIT program included in the package, the Commission is likely to scrutinize fundamental
social achievements. In particular, EFFAT fears announced withdrawals of important potential and pending proposals
as those on work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders and maternity leave as well as the consolidation of the three
Information and consultation directive.
Moreover EFFAT fears the Commission’s intention to undertake consultation processes and impact assessments on
crucial social partners’ agreements, thus undermining fundamental article 155 TFEU
