On 25 May 2016 the members of the Coca Cola Iberian partners (CCIP)’s Special Negotiating Body (SNB), regularly assisted by EFFAT and its Spanish Member Organisations, successfully concluded the negotiations with Central Management towards the establishment of the Coca-Cola Iberian Partner European Works Council.
The ambitious agreement goes far beyond the standards of the 2009 EWC Directive and ensures a very close cooperation with EFFAT Member Organisations, the EFFAT Secretariat as well as the assistance of one or more Experts in every meeting. Trade union advisors from EFFAT Member Organisations can also attend.
The EWC will meet at least once per year (plenary) + 3 Steering Committee meetings. Extraordinary meetings can also take place when necessary following an independent request by the EWC. The agreement states that the first meeting will take place within 60 days from the day of the signature.
Enrico Somaglia, EFFAT’s Company Policy officer and active participant in the negotiations, commented on this success saying: “The agreement has been signed at a delicate moment due to the mega-merger and the establishment of the new bottler Coca-Cola European Partners. Nevertheless it can be considered a good example for the upcoming negotiations of the CCEP EWC”.
Through the agreement, the Spanish and Portuguese employees will benefit from a platform and a direct channel towards Central Management where they can be meaningfully informed and consulted at difficult time due to substantial changes to the corporate structure.
